Slip testing across Powys
Independent, UKAS-accredited floor testing for Mid Wales — grip measured wet and dry, read off a calibrated instrument, with a report that proves a floor is safe.
The readings
Two measures, read off the scale
Slip resistance is invisible — so we measure it, two complementary ways, and grade every area against a clear scale.
Pendulum — PTV
A calibrated slider reproduces a slipping heel. 36 or above is the recognised low-risk threshold.
Surface roughness — Rz
Used alongside the pendulum where floors get wet or greasy. We are accredited for both.
Both to BS 7976-2 and BS EN 16165, interpreted to UKSRG guidance. The full method →
Where it counts
Zones we test
Anywhere staff or the public walk — especially the wet, the busy and the transitional.
Whose duty it is
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Workplace Regulations, every employer and occupier must keep floors safe and assess the risk. In care settings in Wales, Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) expects slip risk to be actively managed. A measured PTV is the evidence an insurer, the HSE or CIW will accept.
Independent & accredited
No connection to any flooring manufacturer, treatment company or equipment maker, and no commission — nothing nudges the number. The same accredited lab trusted from Amazon and Gatwick to British Airways and TUI, testing over 300 flooring products a year.

Get your floors tested
Send the surface type, the rough area in square metres and where you are in Powys. A fixed, no-obligation quote comes back — usually the same working day. We can test out of hours to keep disruption to a minimum.
Independent and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited (UKAS Testing Laboratory No. 7933). We test floors; we don’t sell flooring or treatments.
